 Actress Rekha was born on 10th October 1954 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu state. Her birth name is Bhanurekha Ganesan and she is popularly known by her screen name Rekha. She had to quit school to pursue her career film career, it was not her desire but her financial troubles which made her to join films. Because of her parents she is fluent in several languages including Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and English.

 Rekha’s love life also gained a lot of limelight. Her many affairs, the suicide of her husband, and then one day the the sindoor on her forehead turned several heads. Her affair with megastar Amitabh Bachchan remains one of the most scrutinized aspects of her life. No one knows the story behind the Sindoor which she carries at almost all her public appearances now, but in an interview she mentioned that it is fashionable to wear Sindoor from where she comes.

 Rekha was married to Mukesh Aggarwal, an industrialist in 1990. Unfortunately Mukesh Aggarwal committed suicide in 1991 when she was in London leaving suicide note “Don’t blame anyone”. The couple had no children. It was considered as her deepest period in her life.

Many people call her narcissistic, a woman who has formed a world of her own around her with no windows to get in. Rekha is not shy in admitting that she, indeed, is narcissistic. And she feels there is nothing negative about it. She is in love with the woman she has become and she needs no acceptance from anyone else. The beauty is the symbol of grace and dignity for everyone.

 She entered the Hindi film industry when she was only 14 years old. This was one of the most difficult times of her life as she could not speak Hindi, struggled to communicate with her co-workers and constantly missed her mother, who was critically ill and therefore not by her side at the time. She was also called fat, ugly and stout. Poorly styled and awkward, her debut in Sawan Bhadon (which turned out to be a huge hit) was criticised by the audience and the critics

 Rekha describes her personality as “basic, simple, real, extremely comforting, warm, and aesthetically attractive”. And we can’t agree more with her. She is going to remain the most elegant and the eternal beauty of the Bollywood.

 The already married South Indian actor, Gemini Ganesan, met a beautiful actress Pushpavalli on the sets of Miss Malini in 1947. After a few cordial meetings, he fell deeply in love with Pushpavalli. It was hard for Mr Ganesan to face his family and apparently, the two eventually decided to have a secret wedding at Tirupati.

 She has a sister named Radha Alamelu and Ganesan gave birth to four daughters named Revathi, Kamala, Jayalakshmi and Narayani. Savithri and Ganesan gave birth to a daughter named Vijayasamundeeswari.who is settled in San Francisco.

 In 1954, Gemini Ganesan and Pushpavalli were blessed with a small bundle of joy whom they named Bhanurekha, now known as Rekha. But destiny had other plans for Rekha. Rumours spread like wildfire that she was the Gemini Ganesan's illegitimate child. Very few people knew that he had secretly married Pushpavalli as he hadn't left his first wife, Alamelu.
