Sopore: Family of slain Kashmiri Bashir Ahmed blames forces, discusses photo of surviving child
A civilian was killed and a three-year-old child survived a militant attack in the Indian-administered Kashmir town of Sopore on Wednesday. One Central Reserve Police Officer was killed and three others were injured in the attack.

The man killed in the incident was named Bashir Ahmed, while the surviving child is his grandson.
The victim's family has alleged that security personnel pulled Bashir Ahmed out of his car and deliberately killed him.
Militants reportedly attacked a police party in Sopore, 40km from Srinagar, on Wednesday morning.

Jammu and Kashmir Police have shared pictures on Twitter in which a policeman is rescuing a three-year-old child.
In these pictures, an innocent child can be seen sitting on a corpse addicted to his grandfather's blood. The boy looked terrified when police took him into custody.
Bashir Ahmed's family from Srinagar has alleged that his father was deliberately killed by the police.

Bashir Ahmed's wife alleged that security personnel killed her husband and then placed his grandson on his grandfather's body to take pictures.
Jammu and Kashmir police said in a Twitter message that they had saved a three-year-old boy from being shot in a militant attack.
Speaking to the BBC, CRPF Additional Director General Zulfiqar Ali denied the allegations made by Bashir Ahmed's family.
"I and my inspector general are just returning from the opportunity," he said. We have inspected this place and we have inspected everything. This is all a lie. The militants had been occupying a mosque since the Fajr prayers and were sitting there. When the CRF party went there, they attacked.
The CRPF Additional Director General added, "The dead civilians (Bashir Ahmed) were passing by in a car and as far as we know, they were shot dead by the militants." The CRF opened fire on them and did not drag them out of the vehicle. He stopped his car and tried to flee to safety, but was shot by militants. People sitting far away are making up stories that the CRF has killed them.

"What we have seen there is heartbreaking," the ANI news agency quoted Sopore's SHO as saying. Saving the baby was our priority. The militants were constantly firing. The child was going to Handwara with his father.
Jammu and Kashmir's own party (JKAP) has demanded a full inquiry into the incident.

A party spokesman said in a statement: "From the statements and testimonies of the family of the late Bashir Ahmed, it appears that he was killed deliberately. The government should announce an impartial inquiry into the circumstances of the civilian deaths.
A few days ago, a six-year-old boy was killed when militants attacked a CRF checkpoint.
