-British and Indian police officers rounded up Pathan rioters in Dongri, Bombay during the Hindu/Muslim riots in 1932 while British soldiers look on.
The Viceroy of India, Lord Wellington, studied a map in front of the Khyber Pass. The British never really managed to pacify the hinterland of the border crossing in north-west India. Here the authority of the respective tribal leaders applied. Today the pass separates Pakistan from Afghanistan.
